There was much to celebrate when four Monash MBBS students secured internships at the World Health Organisation (WHO) in December. Charlotte O Leary, Tom Goodwin, Liang Qu and Emily Yeung travelled to Geneva, Switzerland and returned with new insights into global and public health, and another stamp in their passports. Excited about the opportunity to intern at the WHO, Charlotte was keen to live in Geneva with her fellow classmates. We all knew each other through various means back in Melbourne, largely through the Monash global health community, so when we found out that we were going to be in Geneva together we started planning and have since become close!

Professor Jennie Ponsford, Director of Monash School of Psychological Sciences Clinical Programs and Director of the Monash-Epworth Rehabilitation Research Centre (MERRC), has been appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in the General Division in this year s Queen s Birthday Honours, in recognition of her distinguished service to medical research in the field of neuropsychology, and through seminal advances in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with traumatic brain injuries (TBI).

School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health PhD students Alexander Rodriguez and Dr Jasna Aleksova received prestigious awards from the Australia New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society (ANZBMS) in Brisbane last week.

Monash Health Translation Precinct (MHTP) biostatistician Dr StellaMay Gwini has received the prestigious Professor Damien Jolley Award for excellence in statistics within a doctoral thesis.

Monash University s Associate Professor Simon Craig was invited to present his latest research at the PREM European Paediatric Resuscitation Emergency Medicine Conference in Ghent, Belgium and the Pediatric American Societies (PAS) Annual Meeting in San Francisco last month.
