While health-care costs won t stop rising, we can curb our spending. Here then, is a list of the five best health insurance plans for individuals based on best value.
As in our last article, Worst Health Insurance Plans. we d like to mention that because insurance companies vary by region in the U.S. and because the cost of health care varies dramatically by region, the information presented here is based on data from the New York area. However, much of the information will be pertinent enough to help people from any state select from the best health insurance plans.

This first package provides the overall best value for a single man. It’s great for guys because it’s a sort of no-frills, cover-the-essentials plan. The program is provided by Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, which received an A rating from A.M. Best and means that the company is financially stable. The program is an indemnity plan, which means that you don t have to worry about whether a certain doctor is in the network. There s also no deductible, but you don t have coverage for prescriptions, maternity or office visits. Basically, this is a good, cheap plan for a single guy who wants to make sure he s covered in case of an emergency.
2- Full Coverage HMO with no RX
One of our best health insurance plans is provided by Atlantis Health Plan and it s a great plan for guys who want good medical coverage without the prescription coverage. If you are a single guy who requires no permanent medication, it will be of greater value to pay for your prescriptions when and if you need them. If you do require a lot of medication, it would probably be in your best interest to go with one of the best health insurance plans that has prescription coverage. This plan is an HMO (health maintenance organization), which means you choose a doctor to be your primary physician from a network of doctors. Your primary physician will always offer the first diagnosis and if a specialist is needed, he will refer you to a specialist in the network. This plan offers maternity coverage and coverage for office visits.
